The Sugar Lodge Garden sits proudly overlooking the Wasatch Mountains in Park City, Utah. The preservation of the surrounding sagebrush and juniper ecosystem was paramount to the design vision. The garden design and installation were methodical and efficient to preserve this unique and dwindling ecosystem. We used on-site sandstone boulders to create terrace seating, provide garden form, and retain grade. Unique to this garden are two special outdoor garden features tailored to the loves and interests of the owners. In the rear garden, a terraced prow sits above the surrounding sagebrush and grasses. From this vantage point, the owners drive golf balls onto the bordering golf green of Jack Nicklaus’ signature Red Ledges course. In the front garden, a board sandstone monolith and native wildflower planting provides an enjoyable seating area to watch their grandchildren play.
