Located along the intracoastal waterway in Gulfstream, Florida, the Water Watch Garden is a tranquil garden space with a layout that reflects the symmetry of the architecture. The central property axis is highlighted by travertine stepping pads that extend from the front property line through the house, across the swimming pool, and to the water way. We designed the swimming pool to heighten this sense of symmetry and mirror the sky. Landscape planting frame the main water panorama and block unwanted views of the boat lift. The garden’s buffer consists of native Crabwood hedges, bouquets of Philodendron giganteum, and tropical understory shrubs. A specimen Jaboticaba tree is situated within the private Master Wing garden and provides a dramatic sculptural form in the garden.
